Jharkhand Eligibility Test 2025 (JET-2025) Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualifications:

  • Unreserved/EWS candidates who have secured at least 55% marks (without rounding off) in a Master’s Degree or equivalent examination from universities/institutions recognized by UGC (available on the website: www.ugc.ac.in). The BC-I/BC-II/ Scheduled Caste (SC)/Scheduled Tribe (ST)/Persons with Benchmark Disability (PwBD) category candidates of Jharkhand state only who have secured at least 50% marks (without rounding off) in a Master’s degree or equivalent examination are eligible for this JET.
  • Candidates who are pursuing their Master’s degree or equivalent course, or candidates who have appeared for their qualifying Master’s degree (final year) examination and whose result is still awaited, or candidates whose qualifying examinations have been delayed, may also apply for this test. However, such candidates will be admitted provisionally and shall be considered eligible for Assistant Professor and admission in Ph.D only after they have passed their Master’s Degree or equivalent examination with at least 55% marks (50% marks in case of BC-I/BC-II/ Scheduled Caste (SC)/Scheduled Tribe (ST)/Persons with Benchmark Disability (PwBD) category candidates). Such candidates must complete their Master’s degree or equivalent examination within two years from the date of the JET result with the required percentage of marks, failing which they shall be treated as disqualified.
  • The Ph.D degree holders whose Master’s level examination has been completed by 19 September 1991 (irrespective of date of declaration of result) shall be eligible for a relaxation of 5% in aggregate marks (i.e., from 55% to 50%) for appearing in JET. Candidates are advised to appear in the subject of their PostGraduation only. In case the subject of a candidate is not included in the list of JET subjects, the candidate may appear in the UGC-NET/UGCCSIR Test held regularly.
  • Candidates with a post-graduate diploma/certificate awarded by the Indian University/Institute or a foreign degree/diploma/certificate awarded by a foreign University/institute should, in their own interest, ascertain the equivalence of their diploma/degree/ certificate with Master’s degree of recognized Indian universities from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi (www.aiu.ac.in).
  • Candidates are neither required to send any certificates/documents in support of their eligibility nor a printout of their Application Form or Confirmation Page to the Nodal state agency (JPSC). However, candidates must ensure their own eligibility for the test in their own interest. If any ineligibility is detected by the Nodal State Agency (JPSC) at any stage, their candidature will be cancelled, and they shall be liable for legal action. JPSC does not verify the information provided by candidates during online registration; hence, candidature will be purely provisional, subject to the fulfillment of the eligibility criteria.
  • Candidates other than the general category are required to mention their reservation status as per the reservation policy of the Government of Jharkhand in the online application form. In case their ineligibility is detected due to an invalid certificate by the JPSC at any stage, their candidature will be cancelled without prior notice, and they shall be liable for legal action.
  • The candidates of other states, except Jharkhand, belonging to SC, ST, Backward Classes (BC-I & BC-II), and EWS categories shall be treated as Unreserved only as per the reservation policy of the Government of Jharkhand.

Examination Pattern

Total Duration: 03 Hours (180 minutes) without any break.
Type: All questions are compulsory.
